About Us

The Tanzania Sports Arbitration Center (TASArbC) offers an innovative approach to dealing with disputes arising from sporting events at both the national and international levels. It is an independent alternative dispute resolution (ADR) entity, which is a brainchild of leading figures in the sports community who take a proactive alternative approach to sports dispute resolution. Our primary focus is on public awareness, prevention, and management of sports disputes in order to create an enabling conducive environment for athletes, sports managers and institutions/ministries, agents, advertisers and fans.

Mission

TASArbC strives to realise mission of providing to the sports community at both the domestic and international levels world-class ADR services relating to the resolution of sports disputes; and expertise and assistance regarding alternative dispute resolution.

THE LANGUAGE

Although Kiswahili and English are the working languages of the day-to-day business of the TASArbC, parties who refer their disputes for administration under the auspices of the TASArbC are at liberty to choose the language for use during the proceedings in relation to their disputes. Where a party, witness, expert or counsel does not speak the party-chosen language, the TASArbC offers certified translators to do the translation, upon the approval of the Arbitration Panel.

At TASArbC, we are committed to offering an innovative, friendly and fair  ways of  resolving sports  and all other Sports related disputes via ADR mechanism.

It is known, that ADR has been defined as a series of processes that are alternatives to litigation and offer several advantages over the formal court system. Alternate dispute resolution processes include prevention, negotiation, facilitation, mediation, and arbitration.

Therefore, the establishment of the TASArbC strives to fulfil its goals by:

  • Reducing time and costs for dispute resolution;
  • Maintaining and/or improving the disputants’ relationship;
  • Ensuring that the outcome of the system is realistic, workable, and durable; and
  • Develop a process that people can learn from.

This way, all key players, actors, stakeholders, benefactors and beneficiaries in the sports community will have an access to a dispute mechanism that is easily and conveniently accessible, fair, timely and independent.
